Montreal born and bred, Ifigenia Papadimitriou, had a love for fashion from an early age. At the age of 17, she began working alongside mentor designer Kevin Allwood for the exclusive Canadian label Nevik and the pair continued to work closely together for almost five years. She is a graduate of College Lasalle, Montreal’s foremost design institute.

She joined LaMarque Collection in 2010 and in 2011 was appointed as the company’s Director of Design. Over the six seasons that Ifigenia has guided the label she has repositioned and re-branded what was a classic, heritage leather house-known for its traditional quality and workmanship rather than for its design innovation-into a label that is now flashing very prominently on the fashion radar. Her design vision strives to achieve a balance between line and material; between trend and timelessness. Her collections take their design cues from the natural materials that are her love: leather, shearling, fur, wool and she often mixes these materials in ways that are truly startling and unique. Ifigenia is constantly traveling the world to visit tanneries and mills in search of new materials, colors, textures, and treatments that will inspire her upcoming collection.

She believes garments are essential to one’s history and leather garments in particular have always held an iconic place in the wardrobe of their owners. A great leather jacket is a statement.
